Police Horse (Photo of the Day)

<p align="center"

For reasons utterly inexplicable to me, this horse had its own police badge. Seen in Harajuku last year.

Summer Skies (Photo of the Day)

<p align="center"

Things don't get much better than blue summer skies over Tokyo. I just can't get over the contrast between the azure heights above and the pale monochromatic buildings of the city below; infinite cerulean sheets coating sharp angles and precisely defined man-made concrete geometries - shadows and sunlight, the smell of summer, the softness of the breeze and the harshness of the asphalt and ferro-steel. I could take photographs like this forever.

<p align="center"

The lovely Maya posing for a photo at the beach on Ocean Day yesterday. Yesterday's shoot turned out to look more like an idol photobook / Japanese summer beer commercial than I had intended haha... so umm, dear Suntory, if you would like me to shoot your next summer beer commercial campaign, don't hesitate to get in touch :P

Shapes and Shadows III (Photo of the Day)

<p align="center"

Starbucks Girl complained that recently I've eschewed posting pictures of skies and buildings in favour of "pictures of various girls." Since she's probably my most loyal reader, we can't have that, now can we? So here you go, dear Starbucks Girl. Personally I think this one looks better when viewed at a large size, which you can download here. Let it not be said we don't listen to our readers here at the House of Panda.

Smile for Me II (Photo of the Day)

<p align="center"

The lovely Maya posing for a shot in the middle of a field. As a note, if you're going to be taking photos with a 40" reflector outdoors on a blustery, windy day, you really ought to have an assistant, unless you want to spend half your time fighting to keep your reflector from blowing away (as mine nearly did on multiple occasions).

Pausing for a moment at the top of the stairs of Sweets Forest in Jiyugaoka, before stopping by the baking goods store downstairs for an impromptu lesson in pulled sugar, the protein content of various flours and the wonderful, (non-sticky) world of overpriced silicon baking sheets.

Dessert School (Photo of the Day)

<p align="center"

The only thing better than having dessert in the delicious Sweets Forest in Jiyugaoka is doing so with someone who has graduated from culinary school (pastry school?). I learned a lot more about desserts over the course of a few hours than I ever though possible - it was fascinating (and delicious!)
